The pastor’s prayer was a blessing over the baby and while he was praying he held our grandson high in the air so all could see him. Baby Dedication at Southeast Christian Church
You will need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the service that you will be participating in. Once you arrive please go to 411 Central to be directed as to where you can register. This is necessary for us to know who is present for the Dedication service. Do all in my power to bring my child to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Moody once said, “The world has yet to see what He can do with a man wholly committed to him.” If your son or daughter lives this way, He will use them to do amazing things. As Christians, we know that if the child lives their life to bring glory to God, they will be world changers. The scripture on these growth charts reminds both the parents and the little one that God is directing their paths. Baby dedication is not a baptism of faith, nor does it guarantee your child’s salvation. Salvation occurs only when your child reaches the age of understanding that Christ died for their sins, and personally confesses Jesus as Savior and Lord. There are a lot of reasons to simply host a Baby Dedication at home. Many families may not be able to coordinate out-of-town guests with their church’s scheduled Baby Dedication. Some families may prefer an in-home dedication for healthy reasons. Regardless, this Baby Dedication really only requires a pastor to make a home visit for a simple and relaxed ceremony.

So we pray to dedicate Mom and Dad’s efforts to create a safe and healthy environment where a child can learn about God and grow in a relationship with Him. So, in a dedication celebration ceremony, Mom and Dad commit to doing everything within their ability to point their children to God and help them follow Him. Meeting with the pastor may be optional since most of the dedication ceremony covers the expectations of the families to God and the child. It’s likely that the new parents have watched other baby dedications so they know what they’re getting into. In the case of my family, the church we attended offered baby dedications and the pastor asked us to walk to the front of the church with our child.
